JohannesMarie Smit founder of Smits Onions in 1948.
He started his business with his two brothers-in-law importing and exporting potatoes and vegetables from Noord-Scharwoude and lots of orther local vegetables originaly produced in Zuid-Holland.
During the years the business was handed down to his three sons, Dick, Ferry, Jan and his grandchilderen Remon and Emiel. In 1971 the business specialised in cleaning onions and later in cutting and slicing onions.
The business moved to The Hague in 1993 by the Foodcenter Forepark, the most modern vegetables wholesale in Europe. Is situated between Amsterdam and Antwerp. Onion supplies are easily distributed  throughout the
Netherlands and Belgium.
Our biggest customers are Horeca, fishwholesale, prepacked vegetables, snackbars and supplies for cateringbusinesses.
Smits Onions has the GMP certificat, the IFS certificat and the CBL/BRC certificat. The monsters for  the certificats are taken by Silliker-labaratories.
We use our very own special completly automatic proces wich is done in batches. Thanks to three productionlines from Finis is the capacity from Smits Onions at this moment 240000 kg per week.
The transport is carries out by their own five cooltrucks. They can be easily exported.
