Smit's uien is moving. 

Smit’s Uien recently purchased a new building less than 60 meters from its existing plant on the Forepark in The Hague. "We had some time to build new plans to" tell Jan Smit and his sons Emiel and Remon. "When we were in 1993 the building concerned, we worked here with 8 people and we had a whole onion line. At present we are working with 40 men and we have 3 lines and every corner in use. Because we have each year grow properly there was a need for a fourth line, there is here in the present building, however no room for, well we also have space for machinery for a number of new products.

Last year came by chance one for sale on the same street with a production area of 2650 m2 and a further 800 m2 of office and restaurant space and the choice was made quickly, partly due to the favorable location of the Forepark right along the highway with a direct connection to the A12, A4 and A13 where we are. Meanwhile, all permits and construction starts within. The expectation is that we are moving the end of this year. The new plant will be built to the highest standards of BRC, IFS, GMP and SKAL. Additionally, the new refrigerators and compressors and also completely new machine equipped with the latest technologies in the field of sustainability

Smits’s Onions received HACCP certificate 2008

HACCP, BRC-A status-, and GMP ¼

We were the first in 1998 to receive a HACCP certificate. Smit’s Onions have now the newest HACCP issued rules.
The BRC system checked according to latest standards; BRC Global Standard issue4 (January 2005).  Smit has reached the highest score there is, which means they have the A Status.Smit has sufficient on the criteria needed for the general GMP- standard of the animal food sector (GMP01) and the GMP-standard production fooddermiddle (GMP04) of the GMP-regulation animal feedingsector of  the productionanimal The Hague.

Beside thesmall packaging we have now washed onions in vacuum packaging.
To order from app. 2 kg
This product is ideal for small snacks.
Because of extra productiontime needed it is necessary to order before 9 o’clock.


Small packing

Thanks to the new packingline it is possible to make small packets of onions
weighing 25, 50, 100, 250 and 500 gram.
The small packets are ideal to deliver by you’re bigger orders.
So as by haring or american filet or beetroot. Or as part of you’re meal.
There is no end of possabilities.


Chilled onionstray

Meanwhile  al lot of people have seen the oniontray at Horeca shows and have
placed their orders.
